I setup the initial forums, they're just based on the ones that @BeN laid out. Here they are along with their descriptions: Tools - Discussion of Harbor Freight hand tools and power tools. Machinery - Discussion about Harbor Freight engines, motors, generators, pressure washers, etc. Lawn & Garden - Discussion of garden tools, outbuildings, and anything to do with the lawn. Equipment - Discussion about Harbor Freight trailers, carts, welders, etc. Hacks & Projects - Discussion about all the different ways Harbor Freight tools and products can be used. What do you guys think, do we need anything else right now, or do these need to be reorganized in any way? I got a lot done today, the only stuff left is setting all the options in the admincp. @BeN - We need a favicon and a logo file when you get a chance. I also need new images in 512x512 and 960x540 for tapatalk, it made the backgrounds black for some reason:
Not suggesting overriding your list, but here are areas I expect to get heavily used if the site gets rolling: Power Tools Hand Tools Generators Predator Engines Pumps Welding Cargo, Trailers and Towing Lawn & Garden Woodworking Hobbies Hacks and Projects In particular, there are certain items like the dust collectors, generators, welders, folding trailers, that attract a lot of modding/project discussion on other forums, blogs and youtube. We should make it obvious where to go to discuss those things.
I added a few more forums to match your list @rbstern. How does it look? Do you guys think we would use the xenforo Media Gallery add-on? "The XenForo Media Gallery is an add-on that allows you and your users to create galleries of images and videos in your forum, organized into admin-defined categories or user-created albums. It can be purchased from XenForo.com directly." https://xenforo.com/community/media/
Topic list looks good. We need a General Discussion/everything else, forum. The multi-media extension might useful, but it's hard to for me to have a feel for how it will play out, without some operating history. Youtube is chock full of HF reviews and hacking videos. There are numerous blog sites that do it, to. This site, conceptually, will be superior to a blog or Youtube from a breadth of topics and discussion standpoint. It will be weaker in terms of multimedia integration. The extension might help equalize us a bit in that area.
