Hi all, First time poster here. I had an older model#61373 5-ton log splitter. Absolutely no complaints. It was great! But it was destroyed in a barn fire. So I bought its replacement, the model#63366. Works just as good as the 61373, with one exception: the two hand "safety" operation. It looks to me like the only difference is the on/off switch. My question is, "Does any have model #61373 that they can open up the control box and give me the MFR and Part number of the on/off switch? The one that's in there now is a "momentary on" switch, made by KEDU, number HY57B / E195428 (see attached pic). I'm looking for the "push-on / push-off" switch that was on the model#61373. I know I'm defeating the safety feature, but the older model was so much easier to use. Thanks in advance for any help. Bob Strong
I have a switch (being shipped from China) on order. I'll be sure to post an update when it arrives. I hope it works!!!
So, the Chinese switch arrived, but didn't quite fit. It worked, but requires re-wiring. I finally found another company (Foards) that offers the right switch, and they're here in the USA (Maryland). I'll post about it when the new switch gets here.
I just received the switch from Foards. Here's the website: https://www.foards.com/products/920-943 and it works fine. You might have to fiddle with it a bit (I had to make a plastic washer for it to fit snugly) but it sure makes the 5-Ton Splitter easier to use. Now it's truly a one-person unit. Push the switch ON and it stays ON till you push it again and it turns off!! Finally! It's a perfect electrical "switch" to install it; same 4 connectors.
Update: even with the new on/off switch, you still have to turn the motor off to have the ram return to its seat. Not a biggie; it's still a one-person operation.
That sounds like a great idea, rbstern. Harbor Freight has 2 versions of their 15-amp foot switch: a "power maintained" one and a "momentary" one. Sounds like the "momentary" switch will probably fit the bill. I think I'll pick one up and I'll post how it works out... Thanks!
