RE: 21 gallon, 2.5 HP 125 PSIl compressor:
Motor would not start. Unit has two motor start cpacitors: one 50 micro farad and one 70 micro farad. Both are not shorted but both measure zero on the cpacitance test. Used two different meters. Is this unusual? I looked at the HF parts on line and it only lists one capacitor. Part # 12384. This is an older unit. Is it worthwihle to buy new cpacitors or is it likely they failed because of some other reason?
Thanks

I suppose this was innevitable. Looks pretty good. 200psi, two ports, and a somewhat quieted motor. Would make a good shop compressor if you don't need 240v driven air flow.

Been waiting for them to come out with this lineup: They're calling them "Fortress" brand, and they use the same, low RPM, dual piston pumps that a lot of the recent air compressor products have been brought to market with: All very quiet.

The new HF compressors look great, too.

Problem is, they've priced them too high. $149 for the 1/2 HP 1 gallon model, and $189 for the 1.2 HP 2 gallon model. 20% deals are not valid for these. I suspect we'll see some coupons, eventually, but there...

I’m going to go out on a limb and state up front: The 23 Gauge Pin Nailer, HF item #60241, might be the single highest value-to-cost tool Harbor Freight sells. It’s an extremely reliable tool that works exceptionally well. At $20 after coupon, it’s an outrageous bargain.

The nailer is perfect for delicate joinery work and small wood crafting projects. It handles pin nail sizes from 1/2″ to 7/8″. I’ve found it sets...

I needed a small compressor at my cabin for inflating tires, and occasionally running a brad nailer or stapler. This particular 1/3hp unit was on sale for $39 with coupon at the time (2011), so I picked it up. I want to like this compressor more, but it’s got a couple of flaws. First, it’s noisy. Wake-the-dead noisy. Most small air compressors generate a fair amount of noise, but this model is particularly obnoxious. And that brings us to the second issue: The recovery time is very...
